In the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, a lone musician walks through the crowd, turning heads. Children gather to listen and watch better, which is made easier as it’s revealed she’s not alone.
The United States Air Force Band set up a Holiday Flash Mob for the entertainment of all. They begin by playing “What Child Is This?” which is also known as “Greensleeves”. The band gathers on the ground floor and a choir forms on one of the balconies above them. The crowd moves in closer to better take in their music.
The second song they perform is “Carol of the Bells”. They reform their set-up as more musicians join for an even stronger sound. These brave, talented men and women brought some extra holiday magic to everyone enjoying the museum, which is especially seen in the delight on the children’s faces. Their service, as always, is greatly appreciated!
